CSD Remote Storage provides an off-site backup facility accessible on a 24/7 basis using the Internet.
Your data is totally secure and under the control of the user.
There are three methods of connecting to the system; VPN, FTP and Web.
The primary methods of connecting are via a secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) or FTP (File Transfer Protocol) connection over the Internet. Both of these methods provide the facilities for files to be uploaded and downloaded. These methods have to be setup on the specific computers with access to the remote storage area. On Client-Server networks it is possible to share the remote storage area across the network if required. VPN is ideal for client-server systems and also if you wish to transfer large amounts of data. The FTP is more suited to stand alone computers and smaller amounts of data.
The secondary method of connecting is through a secure web site. Through this web site the user can download any files they wish to work on. The main purpose of this is for collecting files from a one off point (e.g. an Internet Cafe).
There is an additional level of security available for the VPN and FTP access to the system. This level of security restricts which Internet Protocol (IP) address can access the user's account. This is an optional addition at no extra cost but to use this option the user has to make sure that they have a fixed IP address on their Internet account.
It is the user's choice which of the connection methods are active on the account.
The backing up can be carried out either manually or else automatically. If the user requires the backup to be carried out automatically then CSD can recommend suitable software to use to automate the process.
If required, CSD can configure the user's system to link into the remote storage. This is done through remote control (prices upon request).
Due to this service being Internet based it is available anywhere in the world. All the user needs is an Internet connection.
